Product Counsel

Axiom is seeking a highly experienced Product Counsel with robust expertise in privacy, consumer protection, commercial transactions and competition. This role involves supporting digital platforms and cloud-based platforms with both B2B and consumer elements. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal support to product, engineering, and business stakeholders, as well as collaborate with other legal functions such as litigation and regulatory investigation teams.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to product managers and engineers involved in the design, building, and running of digital products.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with digital platforms, focusing on privacy, consumer protection, and competition.
- Work collaboratively with product teams to explore and implement alternative solutions to manage identified legal risks.
- Engage with cross-functional teams, including other legal functions and business stakeholders, to ensure comprehensive legal support.
- Provide strategic and practical legal advice to drive business goals while ensuring compliance and risk management.
Qualifications:
- Law degree and license to practice law in a Canadian jurisdiction.
- Significant experience in advising on digital platforms, including both B2B and consumer elements.
- Proven in-house legal experience in software-centric roles, supporting product development and engineering teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal risks and provide sound judgment in high-paced environments.
- Experience in working directly with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
