Product Counsel
Canada - Toronto
Axiom is seeking a highly experienced Product Counsel with substantial expertise in marketing, regulatory, privacy, and consumer protection laws to support the development and innovation of Google Core Products, Devices, and Services. The ideal candidate will leverage their deep legal knowledge to anticipate and address potential risks while driving compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to product managers and engineers involved in the design, building, and running of digital products.
- Act as the primary legal advisor for marketing teams, ensuring compliance with marketing law statutes, case law, and FTC regulations.
- Provide strategic legal guidance on advertising practices, product endorsements, telemarketing, email marketing (SPAM), childhood advertising, health claims, and environmental impact claims.
- Develop and implement compliance protocols for marketing practices, ensuring truth in advertising.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts to support marketing activities and strategic partnerships, ensuring all agreements align with legal and business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Law degree and license to practice law in a Canadian jurisdiction.
- Demonstrated expertise in marketing law, consumer protection, and privacy regulations.
- Strong analytic skills with the ability to provide clear, actionable legal advice.
- Significant experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, with the ability to manage complex contractual agreements effectively.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, fostering productive relationships across teams.
